HP-UX 11i v3 Installation and Update Guide, September 2008 (Update 3 Release)

3. For a cold-install, you may want to compare the output of the swlist command
above with the contents of the HP-UX 11i v3 Operating Environment DVD and
the Application Software DVD. To see the contents of a DVD, issue the following
command:
/usr/sbin/swlist -l bundle -l product -s /dvdrom >
/tmp/dvdcontent
Task 2: Verifying the Installed Software
You can verify that all software was successfully installed on your system by typing
the following command:
/usr/sbin/swverify \*
The message “Verification succeeded” should be displayed on the console at the end
of the operation. Further messages from the verification process can be found in the
log files: /var/adm/sw/swverify.log and /var/adm/sw/swagent.log
Backing Up the System
Now that you have a solid system configuration, you need to back it up. This provides
you with a stable configuration that you can use to rebuild the system, if necessary.
For more information, see “Backing Up Your System” (page 58).
The Next Step
Now that you have installed or updated your system and have all the HP applications
that you need, you may want to configure additional hardware or file systems.
You can find many configuration tasks in HP-UX System Administrator’s Guide. The
guide is available at the HP Technical Documentation website:
