-2 Managing OVO Monitored Devices on the
CMS
To allow the automatic generation of incidents in HP, essential information is required for each
managed system including:
○ The exact product and serial numbers
○ The contacts associated with the specific managed system(s)
○ Warranty or contract status (entitlement) of a device.
The management of this information can be done in alternate ways depending on your preferences
which are described below.
There are two ways to manage monitored devices on the CMS.
○ HP-SIM
HP-SIM can detect and configure many devices automatically and also allows the manual
configuration.
For details refer to section 4-2-1 Managing OVO monitored devices by HP SIM.
○ The OSEM Managed Systems page.
This method is best for environments where HP SIM cannot find the devices or the user
does not want to manage the devices through HP SIM or wants to use the bulk load tools.
For details refer to section 4-2-2 Managing MPS devices monitored by OSEM.
2-1 Managing OVO monitored devices by HP SIM
NOTE: HP SIM is limited in the detection of devices not built by HP. On the CMS there is an
alternative way to collect the needed information to monitor such devices – the device database in
the Open Service Event Manager. This can be done through a GUI (see section 4-2-2 Managing
MPS devices monitored by OSEM) or through a volume data load for larger number of devices
(see section 4-2-3 Installing the Volume Data Load and section 4-2-4 Using the Volume Data
Load of the Managed System Web Page.
Devices should be monitored through OVO in HP SIM when the detection for these devices is
available in HP SIM and when the number of devices is not too high.
1. In CMS, connect to HP SIM administration web page: https://localhost:50000/
2. Login it with administrator account
3. Click Systems->Shared->Systems by Type->All Systems, the page similar to the below is
