Graphics Administration Guide (5900-1605, November 2010)

best. Irrespective of the console, IRC allows you to interact with X Windows when it is running.
For instructions on how to configure the system console to use VGA, see Installation and Update
Guide for your operating system at http://docs.hp.com/.
The following are required to use IRC:
An Integrity server with Integrity iLO 2 management processor and VGA graphics.
Integrity iLO 2 Advanced functionality (available as a license key AD301A for entry-class
servers).
Management processor (MP) firmware version F.02.17 or T.02.17 or newer.
NOTE: Integrity iLO 2 Advanced Pack licenses (AD301A) are factory installed on every
Integrity BL860c and BL870c blade. No additional licenses are needed to use IRC with these
servers.
USB driver patch. For the latest information on USB driver patches, refer the Update to USB
Driver Support on HP-UX for 11iv(x) document in the USB-00 section under 11iv2 or 11iv3
operating environment sections, available on docs.hp.com.
X server patch PHSS_39257 or newer on HP-UX 11i v2 (11.23), patch PHSS_39258 or newer
on HP-UX 11i v3 (11.31).
CDE patch PHSS_39408 or newer on HP-UX 11i v2 (11.23), patch PHSS_39409 or newer on
HP-UX 11i v3 (11.31).
NOTE: On HP-UX 11i v3 (11.31), this CDE patch is recommended for maintaining similar
behavior of the product on both versions.
For additional information on IRC, see http://www.hp.com/go/integrityilo.
The X server must be configured for IRC operation to recognize the virtual devices. Use the SAM
or SMH utility to perform the configuration (See the Using SAM/SMH to configure the X Server
section). SAM / SMH will allow you to enable or disable either the local or the virtual input
devices. The IRC hardware allows a maximum resolution of 1024x768 pixels.
The IRC virtual mouse only supports two buttons, left and right. The middle button on a three
button mouse is not functional under vKVM. The middle button is by convention used for a
Paste operation in X Windows. Many applications implement Cut and Paste as menu operations
as well. Please look for Cut and Paste menu items in your applications to do cut and paste.
