Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.0 Release Notes The information in this document applies to Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR 2.0) for HP-UX 11i v2.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.0 Release Notes Announcement Announcement Transport functionality is typically delivered as part of the HP-UX operating system. Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) is an additional, fully supported, web release that delivers transport functionality and other networking features independently of major HP-UX releases. Later versions of TOUR completely supersede previous TOUR versions.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.0 Release Notes What Is in This Version What Is in This Version TOUR 2.0 includes the following components: • HP-UX Transport Enhancements (IPv4 and IPv6) • HP-UX Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) enhancements (PPPoE and PPPv6) • HP-UX Mobile IPv6 A.01.00 Except for some transport enhancements (described below) the components and features in TOUR 2.0 are supported on both HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX 11i v2. This document focuses on what is new in TOUR 2.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.0 Release Notes What Is in This Version • netstat Enhanced to Support the Display of 64-bit MIB Counters: netstat in TOUR 2.0 has been enhanced to support the display of 64-bit MIB (Management Information Base) counters. Thus, some of the netstat fields have the potential to display widened output. This can cause a wraparound effect on 80-character displays.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.0 Release Notes What Is in This Version IMPORTANT As a result of supporting RFC 2893, tunnel configuration on HP-UX IPv6 bundled as part of TOUR 2.0, requires specific changes from tunnel configurations on previous HP-UX IPv6 releases. If you have previously set up any tunneling on your HP-UX 11i v2 IPv6 system(s) you will need to make changes to your TOUR 2.0 system for tunneling to work.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.0 Release Notes What Is in This Version IP6-in-IP tunnel configuration allows transmission of IPv6 packets encapsulated in an IPv4 header. IP6-in-IP represents the tunneling scenario where isolated IPv6 domains are communicating across IPv4 networks. IP6-in-IP tunneling is not new in TOUR 2.0, it is supported in base (default) HP-UX 11i v2.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.0 Release Notes What Is in This Version HP-UX Mobile IPv6 A.01.00 IPv6 addresses are topologically correct, meaning IPv6 nodes attached to the same physical network or LAN segment must have the same IPv6 network address prefix.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.0 Release Notes What Is in This Version Home Agent Home Agents are nodes or routers that provide mobility services to Mobile Nodes from their home network. During Mobile IPv6 basic operation, when a Mobile Node is attached to a foreign network— any network other than its home network—it gets a temporary Care-of Address identifying its current location.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.0 Release Notes What Is in This Version Dynamic Home Agent Address Discovery With Dynamic Home Agent Address Discovery, a Mobile Node only needs a home network prefix configured and it can dynamically find the address of a Home Agent on its home network when it needs to register its Care-of Address. Prefix Discovery Prefix Discovery allows a Mobile Node to get network prefix information about its Home Network and to configure its Home Address if needed.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.0 Release Notes What Is in This Version HP-UX Mobile IPv6 also includes a command line tool, mip6config, to quickly create, edit, and verify mip6mod Mobile IPv6 configuration files. The mip6config tool verifies mip6mod configuration parameters you configure and displays error messages after detecting invalid syntax or values.
