bad IP address for host hostname
The formatting for one of the IP addresses listed for the ip tag or any tag requiring a list of
IP addresses is incorrect in the configuration file entry for hostname.
Correct the configuration entry and reboot the BOOTP client. You must specify the IP address
in the standard Internet dot notation.
You can use decimal, octal or hexadecimal numbers. Octal numbers begin with 0, and
hexadecimal numbers begin with 0x or 0X. If you specify more than one IP address, separate
the IP addresses with a white space.
bad reply broadcast address for host hostname
The formatting for the address in the ba tag is incorrect, or the ba tag value is invalid. Correct
the configuration entry and reboot the BOOTP client. For more information, type man 1M
bootpd at the HP-UX prompt.
bad subnet mask for host hostname
The formatting for the subnet mask tag sm is incorrect in the configuration file entry for
hostname. Correct the configuration entry and reboot the BOOTP client. You must specify
the subnet mask as a single IP address.
bad time offset for host hostname
The value for the to tag is an invalid number. Correct the configuration entry and reboot
the BOOTP client. For the to value, you can specify either a signed decimal integer or the
keyword auto, which uses the servers time zone offset.
bad vendor magic cookie for host hostname
The formatting for the vendor magic cookie, specified with the vm tag, is incorrect. Correct
the configuration entry and reboot the BOOTP client. You can specify one of the following
values for the vm tag: auto, rfc1048, cmu.
can't find tc=label
bootpd could not find a table continuation configuration entry with the host field label.
Correct the configuration entry and reboot the BOOTP client. For more information, type
man 1M bootpd at the HP-UX prompt.
duplicate hardware address: hardware_address
More than one configuration entry is specified for the client with the indicated
hardware_address. Ensure that only one configuration entry exists for the hardware
address in the /etc/bootptab file. Then, reboot the BOOTP client.
missing ha values for host hostname
You must specify the hardware address in hexadecimal notation and the hardware address
must precede the ht tag. If you specify the hm tag, you must also specify the ha and ht tags.
syntax error in entry for host hostname
The formatting for the host hostnames configuration entry is incorrect. Correct the
configuration entry and reboot the BOOTP client. For information about the correct BOOTP
configuration file syntax, type man 1M bootpd at the HP-UX prompt.
unknown symbol in entry for host hostname
The configuration entry contains an unknown tag or invalid character. Correct the
configuration entry and reboot the BOOTP client. For information about the correct BOOTP
