The first release of the SMART Plug-In for WebLogic Server (WLS-SPI) offers a full-featured plug-in to
HP OpenView Operations for UNIX. For a description of the WLS-SPI and an overview of how it works
with OVO, please see the introductory chapter of the User’s Guide.
The SMART Plug-In for WebLogic Server adds the following capabilities to HP OpenView Operations for
UNIX:
! WebLogic Server Monitoring: Provides availability and performance monitoring for BEA WebLogic
Server 6.0 and WebLogic Server 6.1. In addition, the WLS-SPI provides limited WebLogic 5.1
monitoring.

metrics concerning server availability and performance, transaction rates, and other processes
occurring with WebLogic Server. Areas not meeting expected performance levels are flagged with
messages, automatic actions, or operator actions, wherever appropriate.
! Forward and Backward Compatibility with OpenView Agents: Feeds data to existing and newly
developed agents, MeasureWare and OpenView Performance Agent.
! Full Integration with OpenView Reporter: Integrates fully with HP OpenView Reporter, including
20 key reports
! Convenient Access from a Single Console: Provides, through the OVO Application Bank, the means
to launch important WebLogic Server applications
! Timely Graphs Showing Current Conditions: Includes predefined graphs, available with the
separately purchased HP OpenView Performance Manager 4.
