The nPartition Management can:
• Dynamically generates graphical representations of hardware components, nPartitions, and
available resources of your system.
• Help you perform complex configuration tasks without having to remember commands and
parameters. You must select nPartitions, cells, I/O chassis, or other components from the graphical
display, and select an action from a menu. The actions available from the menu are always
appropriate to the current view and the selected objects.
• Help you configure and maintain your complex. You can perform the following tasks:
– Change the name of the complex
– Create, modify, and remove nPartitions
– Power on and off individual cells and I/O chassis
– Manage cell and I/O chassis attention indicators
– Add and replace PCI devices in nPartitions
• Walk you through each step in the creation of nPartitions. All actions performed by Partition
Manager are tracked in a log file that can be viewed at any time.
Peripheral Devices Configuration tool
Overview
The Peripheral Devices Configuration tool (pdweb) is an easy-to-use, powerful peripheral device
management solution that offers a web-enabled GUI. This tool enables system administrators to view
all devices on a host system and configure the PCI/OLRAD slots for that system. Further, the GUI
guides system administrators through the entire process of PCI addition/replacement. The Peripheral
Device tool operates only in a single-system environment.
The Peripheral Device tool can be launched from a web browser, the HP System Administration
Manager (SAM) tool, or the HP SMH 3.0 or later. Additionally, pdweb functionality can be accessed
directly by the Partition Manager tool, thereby providing a link between two tools for your
convenience.
This tool can also be launched by running the pdweb(1M) command at the HP-UX command line
prompt.
