• Multisystem event subscriptions: The Distributed Task Facility aspect of HP SIM can be combined
with the evweb CLI to create subscriptions across groups of servers.
The evweb tool offers the following features for all users:
• Event Subscription Administration:
– View evweb event subscriptions and external event subscriptions: You can view event
subscriptions that are created using evweb. You can also view event subscriptions that are
created using tools other than evweb (such as those created by HP SIM), which are referred to as
external subscriptions.
– View HP-Advised event subscriptions: HP, by default, provides a set of event subscriptions. These
event subscriptions are known as HP-Advised subscriptions. Evweb enables you to view the
HP-Advised event subscriptions.
• Event Viewer:
– Quick search and advanced search: The quick search feature provides links, which help you
search for events based on its severity. The advanced search feature enables you to search for
events that meet specific criteria: severity, date and time, age of the event, device, event ID, and
summary description of the event.
– Summary information and detailed information: This feature enables you to view the summary
and details of an event. The search can result in more than one match, all of which are listed in
the summary table. The summary of an event includes event number, severity, event ID, event
category, time of archive, and summary description. The detailed information includes IP address,
indication time, indication identifier, parent process ID, priority, format, and so on.
• Printing: Event Subscription Administration and Event Viewer display event subscriptions and events

table.
• Previewing evweb CLI commands using the evweb GUI: When you are using evweb through the
GUI, you can learn the CLI commands for the particular task that you are performing. Clicking the
Preview button enables you to view the CLI command. Preview is available from advanced search
in Event Viewer, which is allowed for all users. Preview is available from Event Subscription
Administration for create, modify, copy, and delete subscription features, which are available to
system administrators only.
• Pagination: Event Subscription Administration and Event Viewer display event subscription and
events in a tabular format. The table content is spread across multiple columns and paginated
across multiple pages, depending on the number of rows in the table.
• Logging: All the key administrative actions are recorded in samlog, which can be viewed through
the samlog viewer in the HP SMH.

Overview
The Kernel Configuration tool (kcweb) is a web-based HP-UX kernel configuration tool used to
configure and manage the kernel of your system.
With each successive release of HP-UX, system administrators have been more able to make changes
to the configuration of the HP-UX kernel without experiencing costly and inconvenient downtime.
Innovations such as Dynamic Kernel Tunables and Dynamically Loadable Kernel Modules enable you
to perform critical maintenance tasks without sacrificing application availability.
