X-Windows GUI: Few HP SMH plug-ins are not web-based and are launched on the X-Windows
from HP SMH. For example, Event Monitoring Service (EMS) is not web-based and it launches the
tool on the X-Window from the HP SMH.

Features and benefits
The HP SMH offers the following features and benefits:
Web-based System Management and X-Windows plug-ins: The HP SMH is a single-system web-
based management portal that contains web-based system management tools and HP SAM
X-Windows-based system management tools. The HP SMH represents the next generation GUI for
HP SAM and has the added advantage of being a common solution across HP-UX, Microsoft
Windows, and Linux.
Enhanced CLI: To reduce time and errors, an enhanced CLI combines multiple complicated
command sequences into single, simple commands, with built-in error checking to dramatically
reduce the chance for errors. The CLI incorporates many features previously available only through
the GUI interface, so that the full range of administrative tasks can be performed, regardless of of
the interface. The CLI is easy to use and is accessible through a serial console, secure web console,
or a remote terminal.
Menu-driven TUI: Many HP-UX tools also provide an interactive TUI. For fast system access from a
system console or through low-bandwidth connections, the HP-UX 11i menu-driven TUI provides an
intuitive, learn-as-you go approach to system management. This interface includes built-in checking
