HP CIFS Server
The HP CIFS Server provides file sharing, printer access and authentication services to
CIFS clients including Microsoft Windows NT, XP, 2000/2003 and HP-UX machines
running HP CIFS Client software.
Summary of Change
HP CIFS Server 3.0e (version A.02.02.01) is based on Samba 3.0.14a. It is a fix release
that delivers HP specific defect fixes and minor enhancements. This release provides the
following minor enhancements:
Supports a new smbmonitor.pl tool for CIFS server daemon monitoring and alert
management. You can use this tool to check the HP CIFS Server running status and
send email alerts upon detection of failures. Intended for use outside the
Serviceguard environment, this tool can be used to re-start the CIFS server daemon
automatically if the daemon is not running.
Removes the dependency on the NIS domain name in /etc/rc.conf.d/namesvrs
when configuring netgroups via the smb.conf configuration parameters.
