HP-UX 11i Version 2 March 2006 Release Notes
Server-Specific Information
Always-Installed Mass Storage Drivers
Chapter 4

NOTE The HWEnable11i bundle, which is normally installed by default on the 11i OE media,
provides the patches that are required for the installation of these mass storage bundles.
When updating an existing 11i system, one can install the HWEnable11i bundle and the
desired mass storage bundle from the OE media in the same install session to meet
software dependencies.
In addition to currently supported cards, the swlist report may contain the product
numbers of cards that have been “pre-enabled,” but have not been released yet.
scsiU320-00
The scsiU320-00 bundle delivers the driver mpt, for the A7173A card.
Summary of Change
The scsiU320-00 bundle containing the mpt driver has been updated to version
B.11.23.0603 with disablement of Quick Arbitration and Selection (QAS), significantly
reducing the occurrence of any SCSI-related issues seen in a mixed speed disk
configuration. Review support documentation for details (see the following
“Documentation” section).
Impact
Customers using mixed speed disk configurations may notice a small decrease in overall
performance. HP highly recommends not mixing Ultra160 and Ultra320 disks in the
same SCSI configuration.
Compatibility
HP highly recommends not mixing Ultra160 and Ultra320 disks in the same SCSI
configuration.

a. HP-UX Fibre Channel HBAs require that the Fibre Channel SAN maintains and guarantees
in-order delivery of frames. This is typically achieved by setting the in-order delivery option to true
in one of the Fibre Channel switch configuration parameters. All the switches in the SAN should
have in-order delivery option to be true. Consult the appropriate Fibre Channel switch
configuration guide for details.
