Welcome to HP-UX 11i v2 March 2006 Update Release
The March 2006 update release of HP-UX 11i v2 continues to support both the HP 9000
and HP Integrity server families. This Enterprise update release offers the full range of
HP-UX Operating Environments (OEs) and capabilities. The March 2006 update release
continues to expand on HP-UX 11i v2 virtualization capabilities and security
enhancements, and improvements to the VERITAS file system. Significant new
capabilities include the following:
Continued support and improvements for HP Integrity Virtual Machines and HP-UX
Virtual Partitions (vPars) A.04.02 (purchasable on separate media)
Support for the sx2000 chipset and the 1.6MHz/9MB Intel® Itanium2 processor
platform
Enhanced functionality for HP-UX Serviceguard and Storage Management Products
HP-UX Java Development Kit and HP-UX Java Runtime Environment for the
Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (JDK/JRE) 5.0 now delivered on the Technical
Computing Operating Environment (TCOE), as well as the other OEs
Quality and feature enhancements to many products bundled in the OEs
System Fault Management (SysFaultMgmt), a collection of tools used to monitor the
health of HP servers, added to all OEs
HP's Business Critical Servers group places a premium on customer and partner
investment protection. HP-UX 11i v2 maintains compatibility between HP 9000 and HP
Integrity servers in the following ways:
Common “look and feel” for HP-UX 11i on both server families
Application Build Environment compatibility (source, makefile, and script
compatibility)
Data compatibility (identical data formats)
Binary compatibility (the Aries dynamic code translation technology, a standard
integrated component of every copy of HP-UX 11i for HP Integrity, executes HP 9000
programs on HP Integrity without recompiling or relinking)
With this March 2006 update or both the HP 9000 and HP Integrity server families,
HP-UX 11i v2 continues to provide a smooth transition path for HP-UX customers and
partners onto the next-generation HP Integrity architecture.
