HP CIFS Server
The HP CIFS Server provides file sharing, printer access and authentication services to
CIFS clients including Microsoft Windows NT, XP, 2000/2003 and HP-UX machines
running HP CIFS Client software.
Summary of Change
HP CIFS Server 3.0d (version A.02.02) is included on the HP-UX 11i v2 March 2006
release.
HP CIFS Server 3.0d version A.02.02 is based on Samba 3.0.14a. It delivers fixes and
functionality from the new Samba base version while maintaining all previously
supported HP-specific fixes and enhancements. HP CIFS Server 3.0d version A.02.02
provides the following enhancements:
•Provides idmap_rid support. The idmap_rid facility with winbind provides a
unique mapping of Windows SIDs to local UNIX UIDs and GIDs throughout a
domain without requiring an LDAP directory.
Provides support for publishing printers in an MS Windows 2000/2003 ADS domain.
Publishing printers makes it easy for clients to find printers and download printer
drivers.
Changes some supported smb.conf configuration parameters in this release.
Provides disk quota support for NFS mounted directories exported as shares.
Impact
HP CIFS Server 3.0d (version A.02.02) delivers fixes and the enhancements previously
listed.
Compatibility
There will be no compatibility impact.
Performance
The implementation of HP CIFS Server 3.0d (version A.02.02) does not degrade
performance.
