Obsolescence
As of the December 2005 release of HP-UX 11i v2, Update-UX no longer supports update
from HP-UX 11i v1.6 (B.11.22) to HP-UX 11i v2 December 2005 or later releases.
Utilization Provider
The Utilization Provider version A.01.01 is a lightweight daemon (utild) that records
system-utilization data on a 5-minute interval. System-utilization data includes CPU,
memory, disk, and network. This product also includes a WBEM provider for access to
the utilization data.
Summary of Change
The UtilProvider bundle contains defect fixes which enable utilization data to be more
reliable for resource partitions and systems that contain more than 255 active disks.
Impact
When Utilization Provider is installed it launches the utild daemon, which consumes
minimal CPU, memory, and disk resources. Only 30 days of utilization data are kept in
data files in /var/adm/util. The total disk space used by these files should not exceed
5MB in the default utild installation.
The Virtual Server Environment (VSE) Management Software, which will be available
via special media release, relies on the Utilization Provider. Removing Utilization
Provider will prevent the VSE Management Software from functioning properly.
Compatibility
There are no known compatibility issues.
