HP Serviceguard
HP Serviceguard is a high availability software product for protecting mission critical
applications from a wide variety of hardware and software failures. Serviceguard is
included in the HP-UX 11i v2 Mission Critical Operating Environment (MCOE). It is
also included as part of the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundles.

Product T1905BA-A.11.17 includes the Serviceguard software and license. The
documentation is product T1906BA-A.11.17.
The Serviceguard product includes the component product Cluster Object Manager
(COM; product number B8324BA). The COM is the part of Serviceguard that
communicates with its graphical user interface, Serviceguard Manager. The COM
provides the ability to query cluster status and convey commands and information to
and from Serviceguard Manager.
The following products are delivered free with Serviceguard, on Serviceguard's
Distributed Components CD:
• Serviceguard Manager, the graphical user interface for Serviceguard, and the
Serviceguard Manager Version A.05.00 Release Notes. The Serviceguard Manager
software can also be downloaded directly from http://hp.com/go/softwaredepot.
• Quorum Server and the Quorum Server Version A.02.00 Release Notes
Summary of Change
Serviceguard version A.11.17 includes support for the VERITAS Cluster File System
(CFS) in selected HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundles.
As previously documented in December 2005, HP Serviceguard version A.11.17 includes
the following:
• Serviceguard A.11.17 has been tested with HP-UX 11i Security Containment, which
is available on the Web at http://hp.com/go/softwaredepot. Serviceguard now
incorporates enhanced security that was initially released as a patch to address
security bulletin HPSBUX01080.
• Serviceguard now uses the identd daemon to enhance security. For more details, see
the white paper “Securing Serviceguard”, October 2004, posted at
http://docs.hp.com -> High availability -> Serviceguard -> White Papers.
NOTE HP does not recommend disabling the Serviceguard security features in
Serviceguard A.11.16. These features provide and maintain the integrity and high
availability for your data. However, if you do need to disable the features, see the
Serviceguard A.11.17 Release Notes.
