SysFaultMgmt Bundle
The SysFaultMgmt bundle delivers System Fault Management (SFM), a collection of
tools used to monitor the health of HP servers and receive information about hardware
such as memory, CPU, power supplies, and cooling devices. SFM operates in the
Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) environment and includes EVWEB.
Summary of Change
• A new indication provider, called the SFMIndicationProvider, is introduced on
Itanium-based systems only. This provider replaces the following EMS monitors:
— cmc_em monitor
— cpe_em monitor
— ia64_memory monitor
You can choose to use either the Event Monitoring Service (EMS) monitors or the
SFMIndicationProvider. The remaining supported EMS monitors function normally
irrespective of whether you choose to use the SFMIndicationProvider or the
mentioned monitors. The SFMIndicationProvider operates independent of the EMS
framework and generates WBEM indications when it detects any abnormal activity
on the resources it manages. These WBEM indications can be converted to EMS
events and reported to the EMS clients through the EMS framework.
• LED reporting mechanism to indicate Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) errors on
rx3600 and rx6600 systems:
Visual alert signals to indicate monitored hardware resource failure have been
introduced.
• WBEM indications generated by the SFMIndicationProvider are converted into EMS
events by default.
• Defect fixes have been incorporated. For details, see the System Fault Management
Release Notes, available at http://docs.hp.com/en/diag.html
Impact
There are no impacts other than those described previously.

• All data files have been moved from /var/opt/sfm/data to /opt/sfm/data
• All configuration files have been moved from /var/opt/sfm/conf to /opt/sfm/conf
• All logfiles have been moved from /var/opt/sfm/log to /opt/sfm/log
• Upgrading to a newer SFM version will preserve the old configuration
