Additional Update Considerations
The following sections provide additional information to assist you in
deciding whether to update to HP-UX 11i v2.
Requirement for Updating from HP-UX 11i v1.6 (B.11.22)
If you are updating from HP-UX 11i v1.6, you must install the August
2004 version of BUNDLE11i (revision tag, B.11.22.0408.1)
for HP-UX 11i
v1.6 on your system prior to updating to the HP-UX 11i v2 September
2004 or later release. If the August 2004 version of BUNDLE11i is not
installed on your system prior to the update, the update script will not
execute and you will get a mk_kernel error. If you have a support
contract with HP, you should have already received this patch bundle.
Request the patch PHKL_31152 from the IT Resource Center web site; it
will provide you with all seven required patches:

Requirement for Updating from Earlier Releases of HP-UX 11i v2
(B.11.23)
If you are updating from earlier releases of HP-UX 11i v2, you must
install the August 2004 version of BUNDLE11i (revision tag,
B.11.23.0408.1) for HP-UX 11i v2 on your system prior to updating to the
HP-UX 11i v2 September 2004 or later release. If the August 2004
version of BUNDLE11i is not installed on your system prior to the update,
the update script will not execute and you will get a mk_kernel error. If
you have a support contract with HP, you should have already received
this patch bundle. Request the patch PHKL_31151 from the IT Resource
Center web site; it will provide you with all seven required patches:
