Patch Bundle Required for Updating from
HP-UX 11i v1.6 or Previous Release of HP-UX
11i v2
If you cold-install HP-UX 11i v2 September 2004 or later, or update from
HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11) or HP-UX 11i v2 September 2004 to HP-UX 11i
v2 May 2005 or later, you do not need to load the August 2004 version of
BUNDLE11i.
Prior to updating a system from HP-UX 11i v1.6 (B.11.22) or a version of
HP-UX 11i v2 released prior to September 2004 to HP-UX 11i v2 May
2005 or later, you must load the August 2004 version of BUNDLE11i.
You can load the August version of BUNDLE11i from the DVD that was
sent to all customers on support, or you can obtain it from the IT
Resource Center (ITRC) as follows:
1. Go to the ITRC Web site: http://itrc.hp.com
2. If you are not registered at the ITRC, select register now!
3. Select maintenance and support (hp products), and then select
standard patch bundles - find patch bundles.
4. Select HP-UX patch bundles, and then select Aug ‘04.
5. Select either the HP-UX 11i v2 or the HP-UX 11i v1.6 version of
BUNDLE11i.
6. Select add to selected patch list.
7. Select download selected. Follow the instructions to download the
August 2004 version of BUNDLE11i to your system.
Please note that the patches in the August 2004 version of BUNDLE11i
provide a fix for link failures that could potentially be seen when trying
to generate a new kernel. HP recommends the install of the August 2004
version of BUNDLE11i as follows:
1. Use this swinstall command to load BUNDLE11i from the DVD. In
this example, the DVD is mounted at /dvd_mount_point.
swinstall -s /dvd_mount_point/BUNDLE11i -x \
patch_match_target=true -x autoreboot=true
