Known Problems and Troubleshooting
Known Problems Discovered In This Release
Appendix B 157
“ ‘last_install’ configuration already exists” Warning
During an update to HP-UX 11i v2, the following warning may appear in
your swagent.log:
WARNING: The configuration named 'last_install' already exists.
NOTE: Continuing since -f flag was specified.
* Please wait: flushing kernel registry database to disk.
* The current configuration has been saved to
'last_install'.
* The title of the configuration 'last_install' has been
set to
"Created by last OS install".
This problem is caused by the kernel configuration tools attempting to
save a copy of the newly updated system configuration to
/stand/last_install. Since a previous version of the configuration
already exists from the previous install or update, a warning is issued.
What To Do You can safely ignore this warning. The kernel configuration tools
overwrite the previous configuration with the latest version, as expected.
sfd Warning Messages Appear on System Reboot
During a system reboot, one of the following warning messages appears
in your /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file:
1. sfd[6603]: recovering from previous daemon crash
2. sfd[1465]: daemon already running, aborting.
This problem is caused by a defect in the sfd daemon that does not
correctly reconcile process IDs (PIDs) against its /etc/sfd.pid file.
What To Do You can safely ignore these messages.
