Under HP SIM, the location where Partition Manager is launched has changed to
Configure—>Partition Management.
Additional bug fixes have also been incorporated in this release.
Errata
The Japanese version of the parmgr (1M) manpage included with this release omits the
following information:
•The parmgr command no longer supports the -s option.
•The parmgr command now allows root users to bypass the authentication step under
HP System Management Homepage by using the -b option.
• The procedures for managing SSL certificates have changed. Refer to the Managing
SSL certificates help topic for details.
Impact
There are no impacts other than those described previously.
Compatibility
• HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM) 5.x works only with the following releases of
Partition Manager or later:
— HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) May 2005 release: Partition Manager version
B.11.23.02.00.04
— HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11) September 205 release: Partition Manager version
B.11.11.02.00.05
You must upgrade to one of these versions of Partition Manager, or later, to use
Partition Manager with SIM 5.x.
• The following are known compatibility issues related to using the Partition Manager
interface to the HP-UX Peripheral Device Tool (pdweb) for the December 2005
release.
— There is no SMH banner when pdweb is called from Partition Manager, so to log
out of pdweb you must close the browser window. Click the X button on the
browser window to close it, or if available, click the Done button to close the
window.
— There is a limitation to accessing pdweb when managing an nPartition running
the HP-UX 11i v2 December 2005 release and using a release of Partition
Manager prior to December 2005.
The pre-December 2005 Partition Manager attempts to access pdweb using ports
1110/1188 and is not aware of SMH port 2301. As a result, Partition Manager
displays a message indicating to manually start pdweb.
Because pdweb uses port 2301/2381, the pre-December 2005 Partition Manager
will not access it, so manually starting pdweb does not resolve the issue.
To resolve this issue, upgrade to the Partition Manager December 2005 release.
— There is a limitation when using the Partition Manager December 2005 release
to manage an nPartition that is running either the HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005
release or the HP-UX 11i v2 September 2004 release and is not running pdweb.
