Welcome to HP-UX 11i v2 Support Pack December 2009 The HP-UX 11i v2 Support Pack December 2009 delivers the following: • diagnostics (Online Diagnostics and System Fault Management) • stable, defect-fix HP-UX patches (Quality Pack) • optional HP-UX core enhancements (Software Pack) December 2009 is the fourth release of the HP-UX 11i v2 Support Pack. This DVD booklet describes the features of the HP-UX 11i v2 Support Pack media and provides installation instructions.
Media Contents The Support Pack DVD includes the following software and documentation.
Software • The “/” Depot Contains the Quality Pack (QPK) patch bundles, Base Quality Pack (QPKBASE) and Applications Quality Pack (QPKAPPS): — Applications Quality Pack (QPKAPPS) patch bundle Includes all stable, defect-fix patches for HP-UX Operating Environment applications See “Quality Pack Patch Bundles” (page 11). — Base Quality Pack (QPKBASE) patch bundle Includes all stable, defect-fix patches for the Core OS, graphics, and key networking drivers. See “Quality Pack Patch Bundles” (page 11).
Provide optional core enhancements for HP-UX 11i v2. See also “Software Pack (Optional HP-UX 11i v2 Core Enhancements)” (page 14). Documentation NOTE: The entire http://docs.hp.com/ content is being migrated to the HP Business Support Center (BSC) website, which houses both technical documentation and additional product support information. Mounting the Support Pack DVD 1. 2. 3. On the system, open a terminal window and log in as root. Insert the Support Pack DVD into the drive. If necessary, define a new directory as the mount point for the DVD drive. To define /cdrom as the mount point: # mkdir /cdrom 4. If necessary, identify the drive device file: # ioscan -fnC disk This command lists all recognized DVD drives and their associated device files. The filename will be something similar to /dev/dsk/ c1t2d0 5.
Quality Pack Patch Bundles The Quality Pack (QPK) consists of two patch bundles: the Base Quality Pack bundle and the Applications Quality Pack bundle. The Base Quality Pack bundle includes all stable, defect-fix patches for the Core OS, graphics, and key networking drivers. The Applications Quality Pack bundle includes all stable, defect-fix patches for HP-UX Operating Environment (OE) applications. The Quality Pack Patch Bundles for HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.
Diagnostics The Support Pack diagnostics software consists of the following product bundles: • OnlineDiag bundle (Online Diagnostics) • SysFaultMgmt bundle (System Fault Management) Diagnostics information is accessible through the Diagnostics home web page: http://docs.hp.
Installing the Diagnostics Products from the Support Pack DVD After mounting the Support Pack DVD (see “Mounting the Support Pack DVD” (page 10)), execute the following command line to install these products from the media. These swinstall options may reboot the system after installation of the selected products. However, systems with required patches already installed won't reboot.
Software Pack (Optional HP-UX 11i v2 Core Enhancements) Hewlett-Packard’s Software Pack (SPK) delivers new, optional HP-UX 11i v2 core OS software. Recent SPK features are included in the HP-UX 11i v2 Support Pack media. You can also download SPK products from the HP Software Depot: • Go to http://hp.com/go/softwaredepot. • Search for SWPACKv2 (use the search box). • Click HP-UX Software Pack (Optional HP-UX 11i v2 Core Enhancements).
