Media Kit Contents For new systems, the HP-UX 11i v2 media kit includes the following DVDs and documentation. For the update service, you only receive those components that change from one release to the next. • HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) DVD (2-DVD set) — Contains the HP-UX Operating System, Operating Environments, networking software, Update-UX, Ignite-UX, standard HP-UX patch bundles, online diagnostic tools, and the FEATURE11i patch bundle. • HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.

Changes to the VERITAS File System Starting with the 4.1 release, only two terms are used in the VxFS context: Base-VXFS and HP OnlineJFS. Base-VXFS offers minimal file system functionality, while HP OnlineJFS enables online file system administration. Starting with the HP-UX 11i v2 December 2005 release, both Base-VXFS 3.5 and 4.1 are on all OEs. Base-VXFS 3.5 is bundled with HPUXBaseOS and is always-installed, while Base-VXFS 4.1 is selectable. For March 2006, customers can select either HP OnlineJFS 3.
New Products to HP-UX 11i v2 Table 1 lists the new products included in the HP-UX 11i v2 March 2006 release. Table 1: New Products to HP-UX 11i v2 New Product Description PCI Error Handling Allows an HP-UX system to avoid a Machine Check Abort (MCA) or a High Priority Machine Check (HPMC) if a PCI error occurs.

Table 2: Updated Products in HP-UX 11i v2 Updated Product Description scsiU320-00 Updated to version B.11.23.0603 with disablement of Quick Arbitration and Selection (QAS), significantly reducing the occurrence of any SCSI-related issues seen in a mixed speed disk configuration. SerialSCSI-00 Updated with quality improvements. Added in December 2005 to support future cards. USB-00 Updated to version C.01.03.

HP Serviceguard NFS Toolkit Updated to version A.11.23.05 with defect fixes as well as updated the documentation to include information about support for the Veritas Cluster File System (CFS) and integration with Serviceguard version A.

HP-UX 11i v2 Operating Environments Operating Environments are tested and integrated application bundles designed to work with the operating system and provide the functionality needed for your system’s purpose. For more information about the contents of the OEs, see the HP-UX 11i v2 Installation and Update Guide, or see the HP-UX 11i v2 Release Notes. Note HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005 was the last release that included the Minimal Technical OE (MTOE). After May 2005, the MTOE is no longer delivered.
The following list details the currently available HP-UX 11i v2 OEs: • HP-UX 11i v2 Foundation OE (FOE) — Designed for the demands of Web servers, content servers, and front-end servers, this OE includes applications such as HP-UX Web Server Suite, Java, and Mozilla Application Suite. This OE is bundled as HPUX11i-OE.
Known Problems This section contains critical, late-breaking information that was not included in the HP-UX 11i v2 Installation and Update Guide. Before cold-installing or updating to HP-UX 11i v2, make sure you read this entire section and Appendix A in the HP-UX 11i v2 Installation and Update Guide. HP OnlineJFS 3.5 Factory Ignited on HP-UX 11i v2 March 2006 EOE and MCOE Media If you ordered a factory ignited system with either the HP-UX 11i v2 March 2006 Enterprise OE or Mission Critical OE your system will come with the HP OnlineJFS 3.5 product pre-installed. What to Do If you wish to install the HP OnlineJFS 4.1 product on your system, use the swinstall command to install it from the HPUX 11i v2 OE media.
Error When Updating from VxFS 3.5 to VxFS 4.1 When updating from VxFS 3.5 to VxFS 4.1, you may encounter the following error message: log replay in progress UX:vxfs fsck: ERROR: V-3-20749: file system does not contain a valid log UX:vxfs fsck: ERROR: V-3-20750: cannot perform log replay What To Do You can safely ignore this message.
Cannot Update with MySQL Version A.3.23.39.01 or Earlier Installed If MySQL version A.3.23.39.01 or earlier is installed on your HP-UX 11i v2 operating system, you must remove MySQL before updating your system to the HP-UX 11i v2 March 2006 release; otherwise you will receive an error from Software Distributor during the update process. ERROR: The product "mysql,l=/,r=3.23.39.01" is not compatible with this system's architecture or operating system.
Event Monitoring Service Error Messages During Update If you choose to update from the September 2004 HP-UX 11i v2 EMS product to the HP-UX 11i v2 March 2006 EMS product instead of updating to a full HP-UX 11i v2 March 2006 Operating Environment the following errors may be displayed: NOTE: KILLMON ERROR: could not find a dictionary file containing the NOTE: monitor name '/storage/events/disk_arrays/AutoRAID'.
Error When Running the swremove Command for the Availability Product When running the command swremove for the Availability product, an error (similar to the following example) may be displayed: * [20254] Running "preremove" script for product "Availability" cp: cannot access /var/opt/runner/data/runnerSN*: No such file or directory What To Do You can safely ignore this message.
