System Fault Management
(SFM)
System Fault Management (SFM) introduces the
SFMIndicationProvider on Itanium-based
systems only. This new provider substitutes the
following EMS Hardware Monitors:
• cpe_em
• cmc_em
• memory_ia64
SFM provides the option of using either these three
monitors or the
SFMIndicationProvider.
The remaining EMS Hardware Monitors function
properly irrespective of whether you choose to use
the mentioned EMS Hardware Monitors or the
SFMIndicationProvider.
The WBEM indications generated by this provider
are also converted into Event Monitoring Service
(EMS) events by default, to support EMS clients.
SFM also introduces the LED reporting
functionality to indicate any abnormal activity with
Field Replaceable Units (FRUs).
