Media Kit Contents For new systems, the HP-UX 11i v2 media kit includes the following DVDs and documentation. For the update service, you receive only those components that change from one release to the next. • HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) 2-DVD set — Contains the HP-UX Operating System, Operating Environments, networking software, Update-UX, Ignite-UX, standard HP-UX patch bundles, online diagnostic tools, and the FEATURE11i patch bundle. • HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.
• HP-UX 11i v2 Software Pack DVD — Contains optional core enhancements for HP-UX 11i v2, such as Node and Host Name Expansion, Portability Package, and Standard Mode Security Extensions. • Read Before Installing or Updating to HP-UX 11i v2 — (this document) Provides last-minute information for HP-UX 11i v2. Read this booklet before cold-installing or updating HP-UX. • HP-UX 11i v2 Release Notes — Describes new features and functionality changes for HP-UX 11i v2.
HP-UX 11i v2 Operating Environments Operating Environments (OEs) are tested and integrated application bundles designed to work with the operating system and provide the functionality needed for your system’s purpose. For more information about the contents of the OEs, see the HP-UX 11i v2 Installation and Update Guide, or see the HP-UX 11i v2 Release Notes. Note HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005 was the last release that included the Minimal Technical OE (MTOE). After May 2005, the MTOE was no longer delivered.
The following list details the currently available HP-UX 11i v2 OEs: • HP-UX 11i v2 Foundation OE (FOE) — Designed for the demands of Web servers, content servers, and front-end servers, this OE includes applications such as HP-UX Web Server Suite, Java™, and Mozilla Application Suite. This OE is bundled as HPUX11i-OE.
HP OnlineJFS 4.1 and 3.5 Always Installed on EOE and MCOE HP-UX 11i v2 September 2006 and Later For the HP-UX 11i v2 September 2006 release and later releases, the OnlineJFS 4.1 product is always installed with the HP-UX 11i v2 Mission Critical Operating Environment (MCOE) and Enterprise Operating Environment (EOE). However, when you install the March 2006 or the June 2006 release of the MCOE or EOE from media, you must select which OnlineJFS version to install: 3.5 or 4.1.

HP recommends that PA-RISC Workstation customers use HP-UX 11i v1.

Updated Product Description HP Instant Capacity (iCAP) Updated to version B.11.23.08.02.01. Changes include GiCAP Disaster Recovery, cell online activate and deactivate, improvements in GiCAP logging and asset reporting, and more. Distributed Systems Administration Utilities Updated to incorporate defect fixes. Dynamic Root Disk (DRD) Introduces support for root volumes managed by VxVM Release 4.1.
Updated Product Description HP Global Workload Manager Updated to version A.03.00.01.x to provide more flexibility in managing your systems. Changes include conditional policies that take effect based on Serviceguard events, new gwlmstatus command, and other features. Support for Linux managed nodes has been removed. HP Integrity Virtual Machines Provider (VM Provider) Updated from A.03.00 to A.03.50 to provide support for new features in HP Integrity Virtual Machines.
Updated Product Description HP-UX Accounts for Users and Groups Updated to support SHA 512-based password hashing in HP-UX. HP-UX Kernel Configuration Updated to incorporate defect fixes. HP-UX Peripheral Devices Manager Updated to incorporate defect fixes. Ignite-UX Updated to version C.7.4. New features include support for USB 2.0 I/0 protocol; enhanced disk selection and sort capabilities for large numbers of disks; and more.
Updated Product Description System Fault Management (SFM) SFM supports the PCI Express interface events on specific systems. SFM also supports the HP Integrity BL870C Blade Server. Update-UX Updated to incorporate defect fixes. HP WBEM Services for HP-UX Updated to version A.02.05.08 to incorporate defect fixes. HP-UX WBEM Fibre Channel Provider Updated to version 11.23.0712. Supported by the System Management Homepage, plus other changes.
Updated Product Description HP-UX WBEM SAS Provider Updated with quality improvements and with a defect fix. HP-UX WBEM SCSI Provider Updated to version 11.23.0712. Now supported by the System Management Homepage. HP CIFS Server Updated to enhance the wbinfo tool with two new options, -c and -C, which can be used to display the total number of users or groups for a domain.
Updated Product Description BIND Updated to version 9.3.2 to incorporate a fix to one security defect. (This is a Software Pack product available on the web.) LDAP-UX Integration Updated to version B.04.15. Supports the new set of non-interactive LDAP command-line tools that allow you to list, add, modify or delete user accounts and groups in an LDAP directory server. Red Hat Directory Server for HP-UX Version B.07.10.30 mainly provides defect fixes.
Updated Product Description Kerberos Client Updated to version D.1.3.5.07 to incorporate defect fixes. (This is a Software Pack product available on the web.) OpenSSL Updated to incorporate defect fixes. No new features. JDK, JRE, and Plug-In for HP-UX for the Java Platform JDK/JRE version 5.0 and SDK/RTE 1.4.2 have been updated to incorporate defect fixes.
Known Problems This section contains critical, late-breaking information that was not included in the HP-UX 11i v2 Installation and Update Guide. Before cold-installing or updating to HP-UX 11i v2, make sure you read this entire section and Appendix A in the HP-UX 11i v2 Installation and Update Guide. Errors When Attempting to Cold Install or Down-rev to Another OE Release of HP-UX that was Released Prior to December 2007 After installing or updating to the HP-UX 11i v2 December 2007 OE, please note there may be issues if you attempt to cold install or down-rev to another OE release of HP-UX that was released earlier in time (earlier than December 2007). This problem affects only platforms with SerialSCSI-00 as core IO.
HP-UX Bastille B.3.0.29 Warning Message When Saving a Lockdown Configuration File There is a known defect in HP-UX Bastille version B.3.0.29 that creates a spurious warning dialog box when the user attempts to use the GUI to Save/Apply a lockdown (configuration file). What To Do Save the configuration file with File:Save and use the command called bastille -b to apply the configuration file to the system.
Unable to Unload Driver Error Message If the system has many DLKM modules that depend on one another, whenever insf(1M) is executed, you may encounter the following message in the console/syslog/dmesg file: "insf: Unable to unload the driver: pfil" What To Do You may safely ignore this message. There will be no problems while working with the DLKM modules.
Error When Starting SMH Server When you use the /opt/hpsmh/bin/hpsmh autostart command to start the System Management HomePage (SMH) server, the system displays the following error message in the /var/opt/hpsmh/logs/smh.log file: "Error : The System Management Homepage server could not be started successfully." The /var/opt/hpsmh/logs/smh.log file shows that hpsmh encountered a memory fault: opt/hpsmh/lbin/hpsmh[179]: 18230 Memory fault.
What To Do Please install linker patch PHSS_37201 or later.
USB Mass Storage Device Not Configured If no USB mass storage device is attached to your HP-UX system at installation, the USB mass storage driver will not be configured into the kernel. If a USB mass storage device is subsequently attached to the system, HP-UX will not be able to communicate with it because the driver has not been configured.
Warning Message: Specified Process Does Not Exist When cold-installing or updating your system to the HP-UX 11i v2 December 2007 release, you may encounter a warning message similar to the following in the /var/adm/sw/swagent.log file: kill: 829: The specified process does not exist. WARNING: Could not kill all "netfmt" processes. What To Do You can safely ignore this message.
HP-UX File System Warning Message at Restart The following message is displayed while loading some DLKM file system at the restart of the HP-UX 11i v2 system: Notice: mod_fs_reg: Cannot retrieve configured loading phase from KRS for module: .. What To Do You can safely ignore this message. After restarting your HP-UX 11i v2 system, no problems are encountered while working with DLKM file systems.
