Deferred Fileset
Installation on
Itanium-based Systems
Updating from Earlier
HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23)
Releases
When HP-UX 11i v2 September 2004 is being installed as
an update to an existing HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23)
Itanium-based server, the PHKL_31500.CORE-KRN will be
excluded. This omission will pose no risk to the system or
create installation errors or warnings.
What To Do
There is no need to address this issue, as the fileset should
be added as a part of future patch installs. If you choose,
you can explicitly add the excluded fileset using the
command:
swinstall -s yourdepotname -x \
autoreboot=true PHKL_31500.CORE-KRN
Installation of this fileset will result in a system reboot. In
the swagent.log file, you will see something similar to the
following message:
NOTE: The patch fileset
"PHKL_31500.CORE-KRN,r=1.0" cannot be installed
because its base fileset
"OS-Core.CORE-KRN,l=/,r=B.11.23" is being updated
in this session. Patch fileset
"PHKL_31500.CORE-KRN,r=1.0" will be excluded.
OE Media Install Tool and
Network Depot Must
Match
The Ignite-UX install tool on the OE media supports the
use of network depots. However, network depots must
match the media depots for the choices in the install tool to
work properly.
The Ignite-UX documentation also explains the setup and
use of network depots without using the OE media for each
