Known Install and Update Problems
Appendix A150
"System does not have a
root password" Warning
During a cold install, you may encounter the following
warning messages in your swagent.log:
WARNING: System does not have a root password.
You have selected a security level that will not
allow remote root logins without a password. To
login, you will have to use a local console.
What to Do
If you have already set your root password, disregard this
message. Otherwise, you will need to set your root password
to enable login from a secure shell.
OnlineDiag and
SysFaultMgmt Bundles
need to be Loaded
If you remove or do not install the OnlineDiag or the
SysFaultMgmt bundle, some products with dependencies on
these bundles do not function correctly.
For the latest updates, see the diagnostics documentation
at:
http://docs.hp.com/en/diag.html
Use the shutdown
Command Instead of
reboot Command
In rare cases, the reboot command may hang if a
catastrophic hardware or operating system problem
happens during shutdown.
In previous versions of HP-UX, a timeout and panic occurs
if the system does not completely shutdown after 10
minutes. The system now waits indefinitely for the
shutdown process to complete.
What to Do
HP recommends you do not use the reboot command. Use
the shutdown command instead.
