Error When Updating to
the HP-UX 11i v2
December 2005 or March
2006 Operating
Environments
If you are updating your HP 9000 server to the HP-UX 11i
v2 December 2005 or March 2006 Operating Environments,
you may encounter the following error messages in
swinstall.log during the update process:
ERROR: Could not apply the software selection
"VMGuestLib" because it refers to a bundle or to a
product, subproduct or fileset within a bundle
but no compatible bundles meeting the
specification were found.
ERROR: Could not apply the software selection
"VMProvider" because it refers to a bundle or to a
product, subproduct or fileset within a bundle
but no compatible bundles meeting the
specification were found."
On HP 9000 servers, the products VMGuestLib and
VMProvider, are skipped with no harmful effect during the
update. Thus, you can safely ignore these error messages. If
you wish to avoid these messages during the update
process, do one of the following:
What To Do
• Install Update-UX from the HP-UX 11iv2 December
2005 or March 2006 OE. Remove the products listed
above from the /usr/lib/sw/update-ux.selections file,
or
• Create an update-ux selections file that excludes the
products listed above. Make sure to use the -f option as
shown in the example syntax below:
update-ux -s
depot
-f
new_selections_file
HPUX11i-
OE_Type
The actions noted above should only be performed on a HP
9000 system. Do not perform these actions on an Itanium
system.
