Installing HP-UX Applications
Your HP-UX 11i v2 media kit contains the HP-UX Application Software
DVD. The Application Software DVD has optional development tools and
system management software that you can choose to install new or
update the existing software on your system. You can find the complete
list of applications included in the HP-UX 11i v2 release on the HP
Software Releases and Media site:

Tips for Installing or Updating HP Applications
Here are some tips for installing or updating HP applications:
• The HP-UX Application Software DVD has an ASCII file called
TABLE_OF_CONTENTS that lists all software products delivered with
the Application Software DVD. You can view this ASCII file with vi,
emacs, or any other text editor.
• For HP applications, documentation exists that explains how to
install and use an application. The documents may include release
notes, readme files, CD and DVD booklets, white papers, and guides.

• Add new or updated applications (including products with patch
dependencies) to new or existing network depots by using the swcopy
command with the enforce_dependencies=false and the
autoselect_patches=false options. Using the default options
could select extra patches from different patch bundles on HP-UX
media. Products with patch dependencies will only require patches
from the FEATURE11i bundle. Use swcopy with the same options for
copying the latest FEATURE11i bundle to your network depot.
• Make sure to set the option to autoselect_patches=false when
using the swinstall command for selection of applications on HP-UX
media or network depots with multiple patch bundles. The default
use of autoselect_patches=true may select extra patches from
other patch bundles. Most products will only require a few patches
that are delivered in the FEATURE11i bundle. The automatic selection
of the other patches is not required for the installation and support of
these products with specific patch dependencies.
