Supported Update Paths to HP-UX 11i v2
Update means using the update-ux command and Software Distributor
(SD) tools to selectively overwrite the operating system and application
software from a media or network source depot.
An advantage of performing an update is that it leaves user data,
configuration, and applications in place.
Update is supported on HP PA-RISC Servers and Itanium-based Servers.
You can update to HP-UX 11i v2 from the following releases:
HP-UX 11i version 1 (B.11.11)
HP-UX 11i version 2 (B.11.23)
Updating from any other release directly to HP-UX 11i v2 is not
supported.
IMPORTANT The HP-UX 11i v1.6 update path has been discontinued with the
December 2005 release of HP-UX 11i v2. If you wish to update from
HP-UX 11i v1.6 to the December 2005 or later version of HP-UX 11i v2
you must cold-install HP-UX 11i v2.
Update Path Notes You cannot downgrade to a lower level Operating Environment, for
example, from Enterprise OE (EOE) to Foundation OE (FOE).
You cannot update between server Operating Environments and
technical Operating Environments.
