About This Document Intended audience The HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) is a Web-based interface that consolidates and simplifies single system management for HP servers on HP-UX, Linux, and Microsoft® Windows® operating systems. This release notes is for system administrators and any level of user of the HP System Management Homepage. 1 Features The HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) for HP-UX, Linux, and Windows provides the following features. They apply to all releases, except where noted. 2 System requirements This chapter provides the minimum system requirements for the HP-UX, Linux, and Windows systems to run HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH). Supported operating systems HP SMH supports the following operating systems for the HP-UX, Linux, and Windows systems: • HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) for HP Integrity Servers and HP 9000 Servers • HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11) for HP Servers and Workstations • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 for x86, Update 3 • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.

Verifying system requirements Before installation begins, the installation utility verifies whether: • For HP-UX, Linux, and Windows, the operating system meets the minimum requirements. If HP SMH does not support the operating system on a system, an error message appears, indicating that an invalid operating system is found. • For HP-UX, Linux, and Windows, the user is logged in with administrator/root rights.
3 Known Issues This chapter contains known issues with the HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) releases. HP SMH undergoes rigorous testing before releasing any given version of the product. From HP test activities to date, the following items have been uncovered that you should keep in mind. HP SMH 2.2.3 release for HP-UX • This release corrects the 2.2.2 release problem of numerous unnecessary processes attributed to the System Management Homepage startup daemon.
NOTE If the problem still exists, run Configure ⇒ Configure or Repair Agents against the managed node. Make sure SSH is working by selecting Configure Secure Shell Access - Host Based authentication and then Relationship - Set to Trust by Certificate. This causes System Management Homepage to prompt you to accept the certificate the first time you run it from HP SIM. After that, you should be able to launch System Management Homepage without logging in again.
1. 2. As a precautionary measure, copy the existing smhpd.xml file into a different directory. Manually add the tag: a. Open the smhpd.xml in the \hp\hpsmh\conf directory on the boot drive with a text editor. b. Add the following line between the and tags: value Note: The value can be 64-512 on Windows systems or 25-64 on Linux systems. The default value for Windows systems is 250 and the default for Linux systems is 25.
HP SMH 2.0 release for Windows • HP SMH becomes inaccessible after installing Windows XP Service Pack 2. In addition, HP Systems Insight Manager and the HP Version Control Repository Manager are inaccessible. The Windows XP Service Pack 2 implements a software firewall that prevents browsers or other clients from accessing the ports required for access to the Version Control Repository Manager.
