1 What's New? This chapter lists what is new for the HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) releases. December 2005 Release for HP-UX HP SMH 2.2 provides the following functionality over previous HP SMH releases: • Delivers an upgrade to the HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.
• Common HTTP/HTTPS service for HP management agents and utilities, for reduced complexity and system resource requirements • Simplified architecture for implementing HTTP security and HP management updates • Greater access control through NIC binding and advanced configuration features for individual and groups of users • Broader operating system and browser support.
2 Features The HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) for HP-UX, Linux, and Windows provides the following features. They apply to all releases, except where noted. • HP Insight Management Agent Security Provides Insight Manager Agents and security for HP Insight Management Agents using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for Linux and Windows. • Web-based Applications Security Provides Web-based applications and security using SSL. • Configure Trust Mode Enables you to configure the trust mode level.
3 System Requirements This chapter provides the minimum system requirements for the HP-UX, Linux, and Windows systems to run HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH). Supported Operating Systems This section lists the supported operating systems for the HP-UX, Linux, and Windows systems: • HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) for HP Integrity Servers, HP Workstations, and HP 9000 Servers • HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11) for HP Servers and Workstations • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 for x86 • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.

RPMs Supported on the Itanium Platform HP SMH supports the following RPMs for each of the Linux operating systems on the Itanium platform. Verifying System Requirements Before installation begins, the installation utility verifies whether: • HP-UX/Linux/Windows: The operating system meets the minimum requirements. If HP SMH does not support the operating system on a system, an error message appears, indicating that an invalid operating system is found. • HP-UX/Linux/Windows: The user is logged in with administrator/root rights.
4 Known Issues This chapter contains known issues with the HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) releases. HP SMH undergoes rigorous testing before releasing any given version of the product. From HP test activities to date, the following items have been uncovered that you should keep in mind. HP SMH 2.2 Release for HP-UX • HP SMH already uses the user and group name hpsmh. You should not use it for any other purpose.
