Introduction to Instant Support Enterprise Edition
Hewlett-Packard Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE) is a secure remote support platform for your
business servers and storage devices. This document covers ISEE configuration on a single ISEE Standard
edition HP-UX imaged client. The full version of the software is already imaged and ready to enable and
configure.
If a new software installation or multi-client or advanced configurations are needed, see
www.hp.com/learn/isee for the full document HP Instant Support Enterprise Edition Client Installation and
Upgrade Guide.
Before You Begin
CAUTION The Event Monitoring System (EMS) is installed as part of the ISEE platform software bundle.
The (EMS) Listener is a daemon monitoring EMS events generated by the HP-UX operating
system. This functionality is integral to the success of ISEE-based support. DO NOT disable or
uninstall EMS.
You can determine if and which version of ISEE is on your server by running the following command:
#> swlist | grep ISEE
HP-UX 11i v2 and 11i v3 have different requirements and statuses. Read the following version statements
before proceeding.
For ISEE on Servers using HP-UX 11i v2 September 2004 & Later:
The ISEE Client software is part of the HP-UX OE/AR media releases and is pre-installed on HP-UX
servers.
No special requirements exist for HP-UX 11i v2 servers running with processors, other than the Dual
Processor Itanium Chip Set; those users may continue to Step A.
The minimum required JRE for HP-UX 11i v2 servers with Dual Processor Itanium Chip Set processors is
1.4.2-2.
