Important Information on A-A Dump Devices
This section discusses important considerations related to DUMPAAEnable Version
B.1123.0609.01.
IMPORTANT The Secure Path commands used in this section are subject to change. See HP
StorageWorks Secure Path V3.0F Service Pack 1 for the latest information on
Secure Path commands.
Secure Path Active-Active Discover Considerations
Dump device configuration and Secure Path Active-Active discover must not be executed
simultaneously. A-A dump devices configured during boot (in /stand/system and
/etc/fstab) and later after boot have high-availability enabled only after Secure Path
Active-Active discover.
Manual Secure Path Active-Active discover can be performed after system boot up using the
autopath discover command.
Secure Path Active-Active can be enabled for automatic discover on boot using the autopath
discover ON command.
If Secure Path discover is enabled during boot, the following events in the boot sequence must
be noted:
1. Dump device configuration in /stand/system (or swap)
2. Secure Path discover
3. Dump device configuration in /etc/fstab
Any A-A device configuration performed at Step 1 will have high-availability features enabled
after Secure Path discover in Step 2. If the path used for configuration in Step 1 fails before
Step 2, the dump device will not have high-availability enabled at Step 2. All devices
configured at Step 3 will have high-availability enabled by default (due to Secure Path
discover at Step 2).
If Secure Path discover is disabled for boot, the device configured in /stand/system (or swap)
and /etc/fstab will not have high-availability enabled until the manual Secure Path
discover. High-availability features are enabled only for devices that are active during the
Secure Path discover.
