Duplicate Device Identification on A-A Dump Device Configuration
An A-A dump device configured through a particular path, cannot be reconfigured through
other paths. If an existing dump device is configured through an alternate DSF, then it is
detected as a duplicate device. The device configuration fails with a warning message.
Scenario for Duplicate Device Identification
DSFs to the A-A device under consideration: dev/dsk/c10t0d3, /dev/dsk/c12t0d3,
/dev/dsk/c42t0d1, and /dev/dsk/c44t0d1. The device was configured for dump through
/dev/dsk/c42t0d1.
Dump configuration attempted through an alternate DSF fails:
# crashconf /dev/dsk/c12t0d3
/dev/dsk/c12t0d3: warning: duplicate device
# crashconf /dev/dsk/c10t0d3
/dev/dsk/c10t0d3: warning: duplicate device
The New crashconf(1M) Option, -l
The -l option is an extension to the -v option. The -l option displays the alternate path's DSF
used for dump configuration in addition to the user configured path for failed over devices.
The actual DSF is displayed in brackets directly below the user configured DSF.
The dump device is reported as OFFLINE if there are no active paths available for the device.
Actual DSF information is only shown for A-A dump devices that are configured as full
devices.
