Installing TOUR 3.1

Installing or Removing Transport and STREAMS Patches

The modules included in the regular ARPA Transport patch are replaced by the modules

included in TOUR 3.1.

Defect fixes and new functionality for TOUR are delivered in the future releases of TOUR.

This section includes precautionary information about Transport and STREAMS patches.

Installing or Removing Transport Patches

After installing TOUR 3.1, you cannot remove or install additional transport patches. If you

need to install or remove a transport patch, remove TOUR 3.1.

If you attempt to install a transport patch after installing TOUR 3.1, the following message is

displayed:

NOTE: The Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) is already installed.

HP-UX cumulative ARPA Transport patches can NOT be installed because

installing them would corrupt TOUR. TOUR has a separate support mechanism

(patches and new versions). Please use this for updates to TOUR. If you must

install this patch PHNE_

, then first remove TOUR.

If you attempt to remove a transport patch after installing TOUR 3.1, the following message

is displayed:

ERROR: The Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) is already installed.

HP-UX cumulative ARPA Transport patches can NOT be removed because removing

Installing STREAMS Patches

Once TOUR 3.1 is installed on a system, you cannot install additional STREAMS patches. If

you need to install an additional STREAMS patch, remove TOUR 3.1.

If you attempt to install a STREAMS patch after installing TOUR 3.1, the following message

is displayed:

NOTE: This HP-UX cumulative STREAMS patch, $_PATCHID, can NOT be installed

because STAR (STreams Advance Release) takes precedence over STREAMS patches

and thus prevents $_PATCHID from updating this system. STAR has a separate

support mechanism for patches and new versions. Please see www.software.hp.com

for updates to STAR. If you must install this patch, then first remove STAR.
