Known Problem and Workaround

This section describes a known problem and the recommended workaround in TOUR 3.0

Problem

After installing TOUR 3.0 on HP-UX 11i v1, the following error message is displayed in

dmesg:

hp_dlpi_wput:Received an unrecognized primitive: 1021

This message is displayed if the DLPI patch PHNE_32396 (or later) is not installed on the

system. The superseding DLPI patch PHNE_33704 is listed as a dependency for fulfilling the

NOSYNC performance benefits. However, it is not required to install TOUR 3.0.

Workaround

Install the DLPI patch PHNE_33704 (or later). If you choose not to install the DLPI patch

PHNE_33704, install the previous DLPI patch PHNE_32396 or ignore this message.

Limitation

HP-UX 11i v1 systems running TOUR 3.0 on X25, OTS, or ATM networking stacks have a

high probability of system panic.

HP recommends that you do not install TOUR 3.0 on an HP-UX 11i v1 system running X25,

OTS, or ATM networking stacks. This is because PHNE_31091 and its superseding patch

PHNE_33313 has introduced a behavior in the STREAMS/EX code that can cause the system

to hang or panic during a streams link or unlink operation. For more information on this
