Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 3.0 Release Notes Announcement Announcement Functionalities for Transport and STREAMS are delivered as part of the HP-UX operating system. Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 3.0 is an additional and fully supported Web release. TOUR 3.0 delivers Transport and STREAMS functionality independently of major HP-UX releases. TOUR 3.0 provides a number of Transport enhancements that contribute to the overall performance and scalability of networking with HP-UX.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 3.0 Release Notes What Is New in This Version What Is New in This Version TOUR 3.0 includes the following: • HP-UX Transport Enhancements — NOSYNC Support: TOUR 3.0 supports the STREAMS NOSYNC feature that enables handling of multiple requests arriving on the same queue. — Forward-Retransmission Timeout (F-RTO): An enhancement to the TCP retransmission algorithm. The algorithm is designed to effectively deal with spurious timeouts.

This enhancement improves network throughput for high speed network interfaces such as multi-port Gigabit cards in an Auto Port Aggregation (APA) configuration or 10Gigabit cards. To realize the performance gains of NOSYNC, all the STREAMS modules (i.e. IPFilter and DLPI) between IP and the LAN driver must also be NOSYNC enabled. Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 3.0 Release Notes What Is New in This Version Dynamic Keying Support for Mobile IPv6 A.01.01 and HP-UX IPSec Previously, only stat0ic (manually pre-configured) keying between the mobile node and home agent was supported. TOUR 3.0 enables dynamic keying for HP-UX IPSec. With dynamic keying, HP-UX IPSec can provide complete protection against anti-replay attacks. HP-UX IPSec A.02.01 is required for the new dynamic keying feature in HP-UX Mobile IPv6.

Previously, this estimation becomes less accurate over time. This happens when the capacity that was previously used by a network-limited connection is used by other traffic.

Therefore, the STREAMS patch PHNE_33313 (or later) MUST be combined and installed with TOUR 3.0. IMPORTANT Before downloading patches from the ITRC, "uncheck" the "cumulative ARPA Transport patch".
