Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.4 Release Notes Announcement Announcement Transport functionality is typically delivered as part of the HP-UX operating system. TOUR is an additional, fully supported Web release that delivers transport functionality and other networking features, independent of major HP-UX releases. New versions of TOUR completely supersede previous TOUR versions. TOUR uses an overlay model to install new features.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.4 Release Notes What Is in This Version What Is in This Version TOUR 2.4 includes the following components: • New Feature in HP-UX Transport • PPP Enhancements (PPPoE and PPPv6) • HP-UX Mobile IPv6 A.01.00 The TOUR 2.0 functionality is automatically included in TOUR 2.4 except where superseded by TOUR 2.4 functional differences.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.4 Release Notes What Is in This Version You can use the ndd parameter ip_strong_es_model to enable the default gateway for a physical IPv4 interface. The ip_strong_es_model parameter controls support for the strong end-system model. When this parameter is enabled, packet source addresses (and therefore interfaces on a multihomed host) affect selection of a gateway for outbound packets. Previously, ip_strong_es_model supported two values, namely 0 and 1.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.4 Release Notes System Requirements System Requirements This section lists the resources needed and the software requirements for installing and running TOUR 2.4 on the HP-UX 11i v1 operating system. Supported Operating System TOUR 2.4 is supported on 32-bit or 64-bit HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11) PA-RISC servers. Minimum System Resources TOUR 2.4 requires the following minimum amount of system resources: • The TOUR 2.4 depot file is ~4.5 MB.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.4 Release Notes System Requirements • PHNE_27796 (or later) – libnss_dns DNS backend patch • PHNE_28895 (or later) – Cumulative ARPA Transport patch After TOUR 2.4 is installed, the Transport Cumulative patch level is equivalent to the PHNE_31247 patch, with some additional fixes listed in “Patches and Fixes in This Version” on page 19. This is because the modules included in the regular ARPA/Transport patch are replaced by the modules included in TOUR.

Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.4 Release Notes Installing TOUR 2.4 The target selection specified in the swinstall example is “TOUR” and not “TOUR2.4” because the TOUR 2.4 product bundle name is “TOUR”. The product bundle version reflects the version change from 2.2 to 2.4. The TOUR 2.4 bundle contains three products: TOUR_PRODUCT, IPV6AA, and MobileIPv6. By default, all these three products are selected to install. You can choose not to install Mobile IPv6 and IPV6AA.

Installing or Removing Transport or PPP Patches After installing TOUR 2.4, you cannot remove or install additional transport patches. If you need to add or remove a transport patch, you must first remove TOUR 2.4. Separate patches for TOUR 2.4 (distinct from transport patches) are available, as needed.

IPv6 on HP-UX 11i v1 Additional Information IPv6 is not included on the base (default) HP-UX 11i v1 operating system. IPv6 functionality on HP-UX 11i v1 was first offered in a Web release product bundle called IPv6NCF11i.

If you want to remove TOUR 2.4, be aware of the following: • The save area under the /usr/contrib/TOUR/save_area directory must be intact. • If you remove TOUR 2.4, the system is not reverted to a previous version of HP-UX 11i v1 IPv6 product, such as TOUR 2.2, TOUR 2.0, TOUR 1.0, or IPv6NCF11i, if you had installed any.

If packets are sent through an interface that is on a different link than the destination node, the communication fails.

HP-UX Transport Fixes TOUR 2.4 for HP-UX 11i v1 includes Transport (IPv4 and IPv6) fixes up to the PHNE_31247 patch. TOUR 2.4 also contains the fixes listed in Table 2. These fixes include the TOUR 2.2 and TOUR 2.3 fixes that are not part of the Transport patch PHNE_31247.
