1. Why should I install this product?
Transport functionality is typically delivered as part of the HP-UX operating system.
Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) is an additional, fully supported, web release
that delivers transport functionality and other networking features independent of major
HP-UX releases. The TOUR 2.0 product bundle includes: IPv6 and IPv4 HP-UX
transport enhancements, HP-UX PPP enhancements (PPPoE and PPPv6) and HP-UX
Mobile IPv6 A.01.00.
You should install TOUR 2.0 if any of the following is true:
- You are starting to deploy IPv6 in your network.
- You are planning to use Mobile IPv6.
- You are planning to use PPPoE and/or PPPv6.
- You are planning to run links that support TCP Segmentation Offload (TSO).
- You are planning to run InfiniBand links that support IPoIB. (IP over InfiniBand)
IMPORTANT: This FAQ considers the “product” to be both the TOUR 2.0 product
bundle, and where appropriate the HP-UX IPv6 and IPv4 Transport Enhancements for
TOUR 2.0. Separate FAQs are available for HP-UX PPP Enhancements for TOUR 2.0
and also for HP-UX Mobile IPv6.

2. What IPv6/IPv4 HP-UX transport enhancements have been added to this
product?
TOUR 2.0 HP-UX transport:
- Provides general transport support for InfiniBand links running IPoIB.
- Provides support for TCP Segmentation Offload (TSO). (Passes up to a 64K sized
segment directly to the driver.) TSO is an enhancement to current iether and igelan gigabit
Ethernet drivers.
- Provides HP-UX Mobile IPv6 support.
- Adds support for IPv6 transition mechanisms (RFCs:2473, 2893 and 3056):
- Basic transition mechanisms implementation supports RFC 2893. In
conformance with RFC 2893, tunnel interfaces are now pseudo-interfaces with
addresses associated with them.“6to4” router support conforming to RFC 3056
