1. Why should I install this product? Transport functionality is typically delivered as part of the HP-UX operating system. Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) is an additional, fully supported, web release that delivers transport functionality and other networking features independent of major HP-UX releases. The TOUR 2.0 product bundle includes: IPv6 and IPv4 HP-UX transport enhancements, HP-UX PPP enhancements (PPPoE and PPPv6) and HP-UX Mobile IPv6 A.01.00. You should install TOUR 2.
- HP-UX servers can act as “6to4” routers that forward traffic between “6to4” hosts within a “6to4” site, encapsulate IPv6 packets as payload of IPv4 and forward them to other “6to4” routers and relay routers across an IPv4 infrastructure.. The receiving “6to4” router or relay router will decapsulate and forward the packet to its final destination. - Generic IPv6 tunneling support conforming to RFC 2473. IPv6 tunneling allows encapsulating data packets as payloads of IPv6 packets.
Back to Top 7. Are there any special configuration requirements for installation and operation of this product? No. However, note that to configure IPv6 interfaces and tunneling, you’ll need to edit the file:/etc/rc.config.d/netconf-ipv6 (or for ephemeral changes you can use ifconfig). Refer to the HP-UX IPv6 Transport Administrator’s Guide for TOUR 2.0 (HP-UX 11i v1) or HP-UX IPv6 Transport Administrator’s Guide for TOUR 2.0 (HPUX 11i v2) for more information. Back to Top 8.
Note: TOUR 2.0 is only compatible with HP-UX IPSec (J4256AA) version A.02.00 (when available) or greater. TOUR 2.0 is not compatible with earlier versions of IPSec.. Back to Top 11. What patches do I need? For HP-UX 11i v1 TOUR 2.0 the following patches are required: - March 2003 or later HP-UX 11i Support Plus (Quality Pack) (GOLD QPK11i)(B.11.11.0212.
It should take less than 10 minutes to install TOUR 2.0 on your HP-UX 11i v1 or HP-UX 11i v2 system. You should allow 5-10 minutes for configuring each network interface card on the system. Note: Acquiring and installing required patches may take longer. Back to Top 15. Can I configure it from SAM and how? SAM cannot be used to configure TOUR or TOUR components. (including transport transition mechanisms, HP-UX Mobile IPv6, HP-UX PPP Enhancements).
Back to Top 19. What diagnostic tools are available with this product? HP-UX transport in TOUR 2.0 uses the common networking diagnostic tools, including: linkloop, ping, netstat, nettl, netfmt, ifconfig, route, lanadmin, lanscan, ndd and traceroute. In addition, a new IPv6-only utility, ndp, is available. Back to Top 20.
