Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 1.0 Release Notes
What Is in This Version
7
Support for IPv4 and IPv6 Addresses: The /etc/hosts file now supports IPv4 and
IPv6 addresses. The /etc/hosts file contains IP addresses and corresponding host
names. The file can contain IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for the same host. Lookup
policies for IPv6 addresses are identical to that of IPv4.
Name Service Switch: The configuration file for the name service switch is
/etc/nsswitch.conf (nsswitch.conf(4)). A new entity, ipnodes, specifies which
name services resolve IPv6 addresses and host names.
NOTE IPv6 included in TOUR 1.0 supersedes the initial HP-UX 11i IPv6 product
(IPv6NCF11i). To enable IPv6 functionality on an HP-UX 11i v1 system,
you do not have to install IPv6NCF11i. You can obtain the IPv6
functionality by installing TOUR 1.0.
However, if you have already installed IPv6NCF11i on your system, you
can still install TOUR 1.0, because IPv6 included in TOUR 1.0 supersedes
IPv6NCF11i.
PPPoE Features: The key features of PPPoE are as follows:
Supported over a cost-effective LAN technology, such as Ethernet.
Conforms to RFC 2516, “A Method for Transmitting PPP Over Ethernet (PPPoE).
PPPv6 Features: The key features of PPPv6 are as follows:
Conformance to RFC 2472: RFC 2472, “IP Version 6 over PPP,” defines how to
transmit IPv6 packets over PPP links.
It also describes how to form IPv6 link-local addresses on PPP links and to negotiate
the type compression protocol to be used for compressing or decompressing IPv6
headers transmitted over serial lines.
