NIO CommKit Host Interface Installation and System Administration Manual
2-14
Installing the NIO CommKit Host Interface
Installing the CommKit Software
11 Make sure that the /etc/rc.config.d/dkit file contains an entry for each server/in-
terface combination. If you add servers or have more than one server for an inter-
face board, use a text editor to add entries to the dkit file.
You are now ready to use the NIO CommKit Host Interface.
Because the NIO CommKit Host Interface was designed so that you can install
quickly and easily, you do not need to rebuild the kernel, recreate the device
files, or enter the number of Datakit interface boards that are installed. The Com-
mKit software driver is built into the system kernel by the swinstall command,
and all of the special device files are deleted and recreated at system startup.
12 Customize the default srvtab files that are stored in the directory
/etc/opt/dk/srvtab.
The directory /opt/dk/newconfig/etc/opt/dk/srvtab contains srvtab templates with
helpful comments that make it easy for you to customize them. For more infor-
mation, refer to the srvtab(4) manual page, which is available online and in the
appendixes of this manual.
NOTE: If you use the HP-UX SAM utility (System Administration Manager) to modify the
HP-UX kernel on a system which already has CommKit software installed, you may
get warnings that report: Incorrect parameters found in the system file
for DKCHANS and NUMDKHS
These errors can be safely ignored.
