Installing the NIO CommKit Host Interface
Updating the VCS Database
Updating the VCS Database
Once you cable the Datakit interface board to the VCS module, you must
update the VCS database to add the following new installation information:
The group name
The address of the CommKit server, in lowercase letters
The address of the STREAMS TLI Listener, in uppercase letters (optional)
The CPM-HS module information
You will then restore the CPM-HS module to its “in service” state.
To stop the configuration process at any time, you can press the Delete key
(on some keyboards, Shift-Escape). In the examples that follow, the host
server name is hpams5x. In your configuration, you should substitute the
host server name for your configuration.
If you install more than one Datakit interface board per host, you can add a
number to the end of the server name to identify that server/board pair. The
configuration steps are the same as shown below, but with the new name.
For example, hpams5x1, hpams5x2, etc.
To perform the following tasks, go the VCS switch monitor. Perform each of
the tasks in sequence.
At any prompt, you can enter a specific value or press Return to accept the
default value. The suggested values are given in the examples that follow.
NOTE: For more detailed information on VCS Database configuration, including
configuring multiple groups, refer to Datakit II VCS Administrator’s Guide, 255-
