Outgoing Call Error Messages
Outgoing Call Error Messages
The following error messages may appear during operation of the CommKit
Host Interface network. The CommKit Host Interface interprets the error
message given by the data switch and displays a descriptive message at the
data switch terminal.
The outgoing call error messages appear like this on the console:
dkdial(intf
n
): Can’t connect to
hostname
, dk_errno
m
:
Destination not recognized
The variable n represents the CommKit interface board number. In this
appendix, the dkdial error messages are printed like this:
dkdial ... Destination not recognized
The message Destination not recognized indicates the destination does not
exist or the network does not allow the host access to the destination.
dkdial ... Access denied
This message means that the call was denied by the remote server or
network security. For more information, refer to the dkserver(1M) manual
page. This error can also occur if the host attempted to set up a server, but
the data switch database is not prepared to accept such a setup from the host.
This can occur for any of the following reasons.
Explanation The /etc/opt/dk/srvtab file does not exist on the remote
host.
Action On the remote host, copy the original /opt/dk/newconfig/
etc/opt/dk/srvtab file to /etc/opt/dk/srvtab.
Explanation The remote host’s dksrvtab file does not have read
permission set.
Action Check the associated file permission on the /etc/opt/dk/
srvtab directory, and, if necessary, change it to -r--r--r--.
Explanation The server name is not defined in the data switch
database, in the /etc/opt/dk/srvtab file.
