Setting Up and Servicing Print Servers
Using the PSERVER Daemon
CAUTION: For each of the supported printers to work correctly, the underlying protocols must
be present. You must load the following stacks for each printer specified: IPX/SPX
stack for NetWare printers, TCP/IP for UNIX printer, and AppleTalk stack for
AppleTalk printers.
Starting PSERVER (Advanced UNIX Users)
You must start the PSERVER daemon at the NetWare Services server using
the PSERVER command. Only one print server can be running on a
NetWare Services server at any given time. If you need to service more than
255 printers, you can load a print server on another NetWare Services server.
The following sections describe how to start PSERVER from the NetWare
Services console and are intended for experienced UNIX users.
Command Syntax
The PSERVER command line utility has the following syntax:
pserver -[bh?] -[c|f|s|t] printserver
For example:
pserver -b -c ps-marketing
PSERVER Options
The following table describes the options available with the pserver
command. The first three options can be grouped together on the command
line; all of the other options must be entered individually with the
appropriate value.

Option Description
-b Forces PSERVER to work in bindery mode. The
authentication to the designated file server will be
done through the bindery. Print objects such as
print server definitions and queue definitions will
be searched for in the bindery. The default is to
authenticate and look for print objects using
Directory Services.
