Setting Up and Servicing Print Servers
Requirements
Requirements
Before completing any tasks in this chapter, you need the following:
NetWare 4.1/9000 NetWare Services server.
Printer(s) functioning properly in their current environment. If a printer functions
properly in its current environment (non-network or otherwise), it will work with
NetWare print services. If your printer is not functioning properly, see Appendix
B, “Cabling Printers” or Appendix D, “Troubleshooting Printing Problems.”
Print server, print queue, and printer that have been created and assigned using
one of the following:
NetWare Administrator (graphical utility; see Chapter 3, “Managing Print
Services with the NetWare Administrator Utility”)
PCONSOLE.EXE (text utility; see Chapter 4, “Managing Print Services with
PCONSOLE”)
NOTE: If a print server is running, you must stop it and restart it for certain changes to take
effect, for example, when creating a new printer, assigning a printer to another print
server, or enabling auditing. However, you do not have to stop the print server if you
change print queue assignments for printers, create a print queue, and so on.
