Some typical standard extended attributes are: .TYPE, .ICON, .HISTORY,

.SUBJECT, .KEYPHRASES, .APPTYPE, and .ASSOCTABLE.

The application that creates the extended attributes and the applications that

read the extended attributes must recognize the format and meaning of the

data associated with the given name.

In NetWare Services, extended attribute ﬁles are stored in a hidden

subdirectory off the directory that stores the main ﬁles. The extended

attribute ﬁles have the same names as the main ﬁles.
