1 Mobile IPv4 Release Notes The information in this Release Note applies to the Early Release of the HP Mobile IPv4 software product (T1298AA).
Mobile IPv4 Release Notes Product Overview Product Overview IP Mobility Support for IPv4 defines a protocol that allows transparent routing of IP datagrams to a Mobile Node (MN) as it roams the public Internet. Each Mobile Node is identified by its home address, regardless of its current point of attachment to the Internet. While situated away from its home, a Mobile Node is also associated with a Care-of Address (COA) which provides information about its current point of attachment to the Internet.
Mobile IPv4 Release Notes Hardware Requirements Hardware Requirements Chapter 1 • This HP software product will run on any HP9000 server or workstation running HP-UX version 11i (11.11). • Mobile IPv4 user level code is a 32-bit application and can run on either 32-bit or 64-bit HP9000 platforms. • Only Ethernet network interface cards are supported for this release of the software.
Mobile IPv4 Release Notes Software Requirements Software Requirements HP-UX version 11i (11.11). Deliverables • Mobility Agent (mipd) daemon (HA, FA or HA/FA combined) • Mobile IPv4 Route Optimization daemon (miprod) • Mobile IPv4 tools — mipconfig Used to configure the HP-UX system to be a Mobile IPv4 Home Agent (HA), Foreign Agent (FA) or HA/FA combination. — miproconfig Used to configure the HP-UX system to be a Correspondent Node (CN) that uses Mobile IPv4 Route Optimization.
Mobile IPv4 Release Notes Software Requirements • PHNE_22963 - DLPI Patch for HP-UX 11i (optional) This patch allows the Home Agent to forward Broadcast and Multicast packets to Mobile Nodes. The Mobile Node must also set the “B” (Broadcast) flag on registration messages.
Mobile IPv4 Release Notes Installing the HP Mobile IPv4 software Installing the HP Mobile IPv4 software Refer to the HP Mobile IPv4 User’s and Administrator’s Guide (Part number T1298AA) for detailed installation instructions.
Mobile IPv4 Release Notes Known Problems and Workarounds Known Problems and Workarounds A Home Agent (HA) can only support one Mobile Node with the B-bit turned on in a registration request. When more than one Mobile Node is using B-bit, broadcast/multicast packets will not go to every Mobile Node that has its B-bit turned on.
