1 HyperFabric Release Notes The information in this document applies to the release of HyperFabric software product (HyprFabrc-00) versions B.11.11.05.01, B.11.11.05.02, and B.11.23.03.01 on the HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX 11i v2 operating systems respectively.
Announcement HyperFabric is a high-speed network link that runs on various HP systems running HP-UX. HyperFabric supports Hyper Messaging Protocol (HMP) and the IP network protocol stack (TCP/IP/UDP). This release note contains information about versions B.11.11.05.01, B.11.11.05.02, and B.11.23.03.01 of the HyperFabric software.
What Is In Version B.11.23.03.01 HyperFabric version B.11.23.03.01 supports the following feature: • • • “Support for Large User Count” (page 7) “Additional Configuration Information” (page 7) “Documentation Availability” (page 7) Support for Large User Count Prior to the B.11.23.02 releases, each HP-UX instance limited the value of SKGXP attribute CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_PROCS. This value was less than 2500 in the Local Failover mode.
Known Problems and Workarounds The known problems and corresponding workarounds for versions B.11.11.05.01, B.11.11.05.02, and B.11.23.03.01 of the HyperFabric software are as follows: • HyperFabric initialization may fail if the STRMSGSZ kernel parameter is set. WORKAROUND: the parameter. Set STRMSGSZ to 0 on /stand/system from the command line to unset In SAM, set STRMSGSZ to 0 (zero) to unset the parameter.
WORKAROUND: Use Advanced Configuration rather than the Guided Installation when installing or re-installing HP-UX 11i v1 on a system that has HyperFabric cards installed on it. • When the HyperFabric software is upgraded from version B.11.00.10 (or earlier), or from version B.11.11.00, to the higher versions of HyperFabric software, if there are PCI 1X cards (A4919A) installed on the systems being upgraded, doing a clic_start will fail.
Compatibility Information and Installation Requirements This section describes the software and hardware requirements for installing HyperFabric on the HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX 11iv2 operating systems. Prerequisites • Before you install the HyperFabric version B.11.11.05.02, you must have already installed the HP-UX 11i v1 operating system. Updating the Software from an Older Version If you have an older version of the HyperFabric software, you can update it by installing the latest version of HyperFabric (B.11.11.05.01 and B.11.11.05.02 for HP-UX 11i v1 or B.11.23.03.01 for HP-UX 11iv2) over the old one. You do not have to un-install the old version first, unless you are updating from version B.11.00.11 to the latest version (see “Known Problems and Workarounds” (page 8)).
Patches and Fixes in This Version This section lists the fixes and patches that have been applied in the latest versions of the HyperFabric software. Patches This release contains no HyperFabric-specific patches. Fixes The following defect is fixed in version B.11.11.05.02 of the HyperFabric software. QXCR1001016810 – Panic on a production server with Hyperfabric HP-UX 11i v1 at streams_uniput + 0x64 function. Table 1-3 lists the fixes for version B.11.11.05.01 of the HyperFabric software.
