1 HyperFabric Release Notes The information in this document applies to the release of HyperFabric software product (HyprFabrc-00) version B.11.11.04.02 on the HP-UX 11i v1 operating system.
HyperFabric Release Notes Announcement Announcement HyperFabric is a high-speed network link that runs on various HP systems running HP-UX. HyperFabric supports Hyper Messaging Protocol (HMP) and the IP network protocol stack (TCP/IP/UDP). This release note contains information about version B.11.11.04.02 of the HyperFabric software.
HyperFabric Release Notes What’s in This Version What’s in This Version HyperFabric version B.11.11.04.02 includes the following features: Support for Transparent Local Failover on HMP When a HyperFabric resource (adapter, cable, switch or switch port) fails in a cluster, HMP transparently fails over traffic using other available resources. This is accomplished using card pairs, each of which is a logical entity that comprises a pair of HF2 (HyperFabric2) adapters on a HP 9000 node.
HyperFabric Release Notes What’s in This Version For example, if there is a single card-pair (i.e., 2 CLIC adapters) present in a system, you can set the following attributes to the given values: • CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_PROCS 4997 • CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_NQS 9994 • CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_MEM_EPTS 9994 • CLIC_ATTR_APPL_MAX_RECV_EPTS 9994 System tunables for the shared memory should be varied based on the attribute values, but shared memory must be less than 4 GB.
HyperFabric Release Notes Known Problems and Workarounds Known Problems and Workarounds The known problems and corresponding workarounds for version B.11.11.04.02 of the HyperFabric software are as follows: • HyperFabric initialization may fail if the STRMSGSZ kernel parameter is set. WORKAROUND: Set STRMSGSZ to 0 on /stand/system from the command line to unset the parameter. In SAM, set STRMSGSZ to 0 (zero) to unset the parameter.
HyperFabric Release Notes Known Problems and Workarounds • If you update the HyperFabric software from a version earlier than B.11.00.11 or B.11.11.01 to the B.11.11.04.02 release, the following things happen: — The files /etc/rc.config.d/clic_global_conf and /etc/rc.config.d/netconf are moved to the directory /tmp/clic.software_version/ (for example, /tmp/clic.B.11.00.10). — The /etc/rc.config.d/clic_global_conf file is deleted.
HyperFabric Release Notes Known Problems and Workarounds This is because a new field has been added to the Hyperfabric configuration file, /etc/rc.config.d/clic_global_conf, to enable HMP. • Some of the directory structure of Hyperfabric software remains on the system even after removing the Hyperfabric software (for example, /opt/clic). This will be fixed in future releases.

HyperFabric Release Notes Patches and Fixes in This Version Patches and Fixes in This Version This section lists the fixes and patches that have been applied in the version B.11.11.04.02 of the HyperFabric software. Patches This release contains no HyperFabric-specific patches. Fixes This release contains the fixes listed in Table 1-3.
HyperFabric Release Notes Patches and Fixes in This Version Table 1-3 CR Number Fixes Included in this Release (Continued) Description CR JAGaf21261 Node is not marked down now, if the VC establishment logic fails prematurely when VC info could not be sent out due to non blocking TCP send failures (EAGAIN). CR JAGaf21262 Send was being marked successful for failed send if VC message id says send is done. It did not distinguish this earlier. Oracle could crash in this case only during failure events.
HyperFabric Release Notes Patches and Fixes in This Version Table 1-3 CR Number CR JAGaf21296 Fixes Included in this Release (Continued) Description 1.Retransmission failures are now marked as FAILED in the SKGXP request handle and put it in the done queue. We are not returning SKGXP_FAIL to Oracle which would cause Oracle crash otherwise during node crash/TOC/CLIC daemon core dump. 2.VCs were not being failed after a node crash/TOC/ CLIC daemon core dump.
HyperFabric Release Notes Patches and Fixes in This Version Table 1-3 Fixes Included in this Release (Continued) CR Number Description CR JAGae69178 ’num_vcs’ is properly set in the clic_fail_vcs_to_vrid path now. Oracle might not start up in a point to point configuration when a failure event occurs and working in Non-Local failover mode. CR JAGaf21324 Link failure event is handled in the main CLIC daemon path instead of in a forked up path.
